2013 eruption
Etna is Europe's most active volcano and erupted again on October 26th 2013. The eruption was predicted due to the series of underground tremors on the 25th. The eruption didn't cause any injuries or deaths and the mountain villages did not need to be evacuated. The eruption didn't cause significant damages and disruption but the airspace around Etna was closed due to the ash plumes and Catania airport was also temporarily closed. This meant that people couldn't travel and planes had to be diverted as they couldn't land at the airport. The eruption followed 15 small earthquakes since Friday which was an early sign of the eruption. The eruption didn't harm anyone, but the ash falling causes everything to get dirty and they have to clean up again.
